Panthers Downed by Eagles in the 10th

MELBOURNE, Fla. (baseball) – The Florida Tech baseball team rallied twice in the later innings of the ball game to take the Eagles into extra baseball but
couldn’t get past the Eagles in their last at bat. The ball game ended in the bottom of the 10th with a final score of 10-7.

Through the first four innings the Panthers were shutout as the Eagles starting pitcher Casey Coleman (Cape Coral, Fla.) dialed up nine strikeouts facing
13 batters. In the fifth, the Panthers Nick Brennan (Detroit, Mich.) put the first hit up for the Panthers as Tech threatened for the first time but were
left stranded on the bases at the end of the fifth.

On the other side of the diamond, the Eagles scored one in the third and three more in the fifth off a three run homerun to take a 4-0 lead going into the
sixth. After breaking the ice against the Eagles pitcher, the Panthers awakened and scored four consecutive runs off of four consecutive base hits to tie
the game at 4-4.

The Eagles would soar back to take a two run lead in the seventh and then be shutout until the 10th inning where they score their final four runs of the
game.

For the home team, the Panthers left fielder, Will Lanier (Jacksonville, Fla.) drove in the loan run of the inning of a sacrifice fly with Nick Brennan
tagging up scoring the run. The next inning the Panthers scored the tying run as Tech’s shortstop Steve Condotta (Mississauga, Ontario) came in off a
single by Kevin Villa (Miami, Fla.). After giving up four runs in the 10th to the Eagles, the Panthers threatened off a single by Danny Sutton (Land
O’Lakes, Fla.) and a double by Sam Palace (Clarkston, Mich.). Brendan Twomey (Boca Raton, Fla.) drove in Sutton from third with one out but stranded the
two runners on first and third as the third and fourth batters in the lineup popped up and struck out ending the game.

On the afternoon, the Panthers Nick Brennan had three hits with one RBI while Villa and Condotta had two hits apiece; Villa also drove in two runs. JD
Davidson (Naples, Fla.), Palace, Twomey, Eamonn Powers (Staten Island, N.Y.), Eric Trillas (Hialeah, Fla.), and Sutton all had a hit in the game.

Jake Koch (Orlando, Fla.) who came in the 6th inning received the loss on the afternoon as he gave up 10 hits and 6 runs to the Eagles. Luis Pardo (Miami,
Fla.) from the Eagles who came in to pitch in the 8th received his second win of the year.

The Panthers are now 9-5 overall and are back in action at home on the Andy Seminick-Less Hall Field on Tuesday, February 27th to face Embry Riddle
University with a start time of 2:30pm.
