Panthers Exhaust Bobcats 9-0

MIAMI, Fla. – The Florida Tech Panthers (7-13) won their fourth straight match this week pummeling the NAIA St. Thomas University (2-9) 9-0 tying their
three year programs’ record with seven wins.

#5 Junior tandem pair of Cliff Giel (Savaneta, Aruba) and Keith Kessler (Brooklyn, N.Y.) won their 14th match at the number one doubles sinking their
opponent’s Luis Huquet (Lima, Peru) and Tiago Cerri (Americana, Brazil) 8-3. In the #2 doubles match, senior Diego Quiros (Quesada, Costa Rica) and his
partner junior David Fowler (Barbados) left junior Chris Hunter (Coral Springs, Fla.) and senior Ignacio Sarria (Kendall, Fla.) scoreless winning 8-0.

In the #3 spot, junior Christian Smith (Arouca, Trinidad & Tobago) and freshman Christian Kieber (Scruns, Austria) notch their first win on the season
as a pair defeating sophomore Pablo Gonzalez (San Pedro Sula, Honduras) and junior Nelson Delgado (Havana, Cuba) 8-2. This win proved to be Kieber’s first
collegiate victory at Florida Tech.

Singles action proved the same with Tech grabbing six points to secure the 9-0 outcome. Both Kessler and Giel did have to play hard with Kessler winning
his match 4-1 and then retiring Huguet while Giel never swung the racquet to win by default. Freshman Nick Bonilla (Atlanta, Ga.) picked up another win
winning 6-0, 6-2 in the #3 singles. Quiros and Smith each only allowed three points to the Bobcats between them taking their matches 6-0, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-2
respectively.

Fowler who was part of the #2 doubles that allowed no point scored also secured the same outcome in the #6 singles match shutting down Delgado 6-0, 6-0 to
finish the sweep for Tech.
