Reddies No Match for Panthers

SAINT LEO, Fla. – (Volleyball) Florida Tech volleyball defeated Henderson State on Saturday at the Saint Leo Invitational three games to none improving
their record to 17-9.

Top playmakers for the Panthers included Sacha Gumbs with 18 kills clipping .462, Marcela Vasconcelos with 45 assists and
Amy O’Brien with 19 digs.

Leading the way for Henderson State was Edith Musebe with 14 kills, Rachel Norton with 26 assists and Bethany Wright with 20 digs.

Tech started strong in game one scoring four unanswered points. They remained in control with solid attacking from Frankie
Brown
clipping an impressive .875 average for the game. The Reddies took a time out and came back fighting to narrow the gap to two points. The
Panthers remained focus and kept control winning the game 30-19.  Game two was similar with the Panthers taking an early lead and keeping the
momentum. Tech was leading by as many as eight points when HSU began coming back in the 20s, but the Panthers held on to win 30-24. Game three found the
Panthers with a five point lead, but the Reddies came back to make it a two point game. HSU took their only lead at 16-15 before Tech regained control
winning the game 30-26 and taking the match.

Tech will return to the court this afternoon at 4 p.m. to face Northwood and wrap up the weekend.
