President Catanese Elected to Central Florida Transportation Post

MELBOURNE, FLA.—Florida Tech President Anthony J. Catanese was recently elected to two posts. They are on the executive committees of the newly-formed Central Florida Regional Transportation Task Force and the North American Council of the International Association of University Presidents (IAUP).

The task force was created to provide regional transportation solutions for the growing Central Florida region. Catanese said of the transportation task force position, that he is “honored to represent Florida Tech as a major player in planning for a world-class transportation system that can both meet our travel needs and preserve our quality of life.”

The North American Council of the IAUP represents all North American interests for this international group of the world’s top university leaders. The IAUP is an association of university chief executives from higher education institutions around the world. Its purpose is to strengthen the international mission and quality of education of these institutions in an interdependent world, and to promote global awareness and competence as well as peace and international understanding through education.

Florida Tech president since 2002, Catanese is a member of the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Certified Planners and author of several books and journal articles about urban and regional transportation. He previously held the James E. Ryder Chair in transportation at the University of Miami.
