Howl at the (Blood) Moon
On Jan. 20 starting at about 9:36 p.m. EST, the Super Wolf Blood Moon will take place starting at about 9:36 p.m. This is an astronomical smorgasbord involving several things: 1) the moon being closest to the Earth (super moon), 2) a total lunar eclipse of the sun and the Earth and moon lining up, so the shadow of the Earth causes a reddish glow (blood moon), and 3) first full moon of the year (Wolf moon). Daniel Batcheldor, head of Aerospace, Physics and Space Sciences at Florida Tech, discusses Sunday’s lunar eclipse.
