Florida Tech Panel Discusses CRISPR-Cas9

The science world has been abuzz since the announcement of He Jiankui’s genetic engineering of human embryos using CRISPR-Cas9 technology. The act potentially made children resistant to HIV, but also challenged accepted practices and ethical standards in both research and medicine. Recently, a panel of five Florida Tech researchers, Christopher Bashur, Toby Daly-Engle, Moti Mizrahi, Kenia Pedrosa Nunes and Andrew Palmer discussed the announcement, CRISPR-Cas9’s future and the ethical issues in He Jiankui’s process.
