Twelve Schools Enter High School Business Ethics Competition March 12
MELBOURNE, FLA. —Twelve schools have committed to participate in the Florida Institute of Technology Nathan M. Bisk College of Business 14th annual High School Business Ethics Competition on Friday, March 12. There will be a record number of 20 teams participating this year. Community Credit Union is a primary sponsor.
High school juniors and seniors from Brevard County and other Central Florida high schools compete in the day-long event by developing solutions to thorny ethical problems.
In this competition with awards for the top four teams, the real focus of the day is to stimulate these young minds with a valuable learning experience. Students compete as part of two- to four-person teams. Each team analyzes cases based on ethical situations in business and presents solutions to a panel of judges composed of prominent business leaders in the community from a variety of career fields.
Florida Tech will guarantee a scholarship for each member of the winning teams. First-place team members receive $8,000, $6,000 for second-place, and $4,000 for third-place. Starting this year, the fourth-place team will also be awarded $2,000 per team member. All scholarships are for four years, which can be used for any college at Florida Tech.
In addition to the scholarships, David Brock, president and CEO of Community Credit Union, will provide monetary awards in the amounts of $500 per team member for first-place, $250 per team member for second-place, $125 per team member for third-place, and $100 per team member for fourth-place. Coaches of the presenting teams will also receive $100 per team.
