Extreme Makeover Family’s Joe Hurston in Free Lecture on Air Mobile Ministries Nov. 29

Hurston is Central Florida Humanitarian Award Winner 

MELBOURNE, FLA.—Joe Hurston, most recently noted for the choice of his family on the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition reality show, will speak on the humanitarian aspects of Air Mobile Ministries (AMM) at Florida Institute of Technology Nov. 29 at 5:30 p.m. The presentation is open to the community and free.
In mid-November Hurston will receive one of the Central Florida Humanitarian Awards in Melbourne Beach for his work. The awards were created to recognize outstanding individuals and organizations that dedicate their time, talent or treasure to help people in need locally and around the world.
Hurston’s non-profit air mobile relief mission is a faith-based evangelical group, which conducts disaster relief worldwide. Since its inception in 1978, AMM has brought medical supplies, food, clothing—and, most recently—water purifiers to those in need. Hurston and his team of volunteers have helped disaster victims following hurricanes, tsunamis, earthquakes and war.

Hurston manufactures the water purifiers and has delivered 775 units to 40 countries and Alaska. He can carry in his small plane 20 of the 20-lb. devices; each can purify up to 160,000 pounds of water, a total of 3.2 million pounds.
