Now Approved for Veterans Training: Florida Tech Professional Development Applied Behavior Analysis Courses

MELBOURNE, FLA — Florida Institute of Technology’s University College Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) professional development program has been approved for
veterans training.

“Florida Tech has a solid history of offering veterans educational resources and program opportunities. I am proud to announce that the ABA online
professional development programs are now available to our veterans across the globe and are approved for veterans training,” said Clifford Bragdon, dean,
Florida Tech’s University College.

University College offers an online professional development program in ABA with a five-course series for those seeking certification. These courses meet
the instructional requirements for certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst® (BCBA®) from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board, Inc.®
(BACB®) and the Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst® (BCaBA®) examinations.

The BACB’s mission is to develop, promote, and implement a national and international certification program for behavior analyst practitioners.
The five University College professional development ABA online courses approved for veteran’s training are: Concepts and Principles of Behavior Analysis,
Behavioral Assessment and Program Evaluation, Behavior Change Procedures and Ethical Considerations, Advanced Topics in Applied Behavior Analysis and
Special Topics in Behavior Analysis.

Applied behavior analysis is data-based and has the best scientifically demonstrated track record for teaching skills and replacing problem behavior with
appropriate social skills. The ABA approach achieves results and focuses on behavior in its own right as a target for change. The target behavior is
directly observed and measured in real-life environments and focuses on outcome rather than process. Behavior analysts continually measure behavior to
determine if progress is being made.

“The positive outcomes are outstanding,” said Jose Martinez-Diaz, Ph.D., BCBA, associate professor and chair, Florida Tech Behavior Analysis Graduate
Programs and the ABA program director. A nationally recognized behavior analysis professor and lecturer, Martinez-Diaz also teaches the courses. He is a
member of the Behavior Analyst Certification Board and an officer of their board of directors.
