Bayside High Graduates Earn Palm Bay Mayors Scholarships

MELBOURNE, FLA.—Three students currently attending Florida Institute of Technology and one who graduated high school last May and began Florida Tech this fall, have earned Palm Bay Mayor’s Scholarships. All are Bayside High School graduates and Palm Bay residents; they also have outstanding grade point averages.

The continuing students are Nicole Maillet, aviation management major; Roby Poteau, mathematical sciences major; and Amber Thomas, a molecular biology major. The new freshman is Josias Beaubrun, general engineering major.

“We are thrilled that these exceptional students have chosen Florida Tech and very grateful that the Palm Bay Mayor’s Scholarships are helping them to achieve their goals,” said Ken Stackpoole, senior vice president and chief development officer. “I would also like to encourage Florida Tech alumni to attend the upcoming Mayor’s Ball on Oct. 15 to congratulate these students and support scholarships for Palm Bay students to attend Florida Tech.”

The 2011 Palm Bay Mayor’s Ball will celebrate these young scholars and raise money for 2012 scholarships. The ball is 6:30-10:30 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Parish Hall and includes a sit-down dinner and live music. The cost is $45/person and sponsorship opportunities are available. Proceeds benefit the Palm Bay Mayor’s scholarship fund for Brevard Community College and Florida Tech, which supports students graduating from Palm Bay area high schools.
