Zonta Club Awards Womens Business Center $400 For Scholarship

MELBOURNE, FLA.—The Florida Institute of Technology Women’s Business Center (WBC) recently received $400 from the Zonta Club of Melbourne to provide scholarships to women.

The scholarship honors the Meehan family—Dennis, Kathy, Ron, LeAnne and Barbara—and Warren Miller for their longtime support of the Zonta Club. The Zonta/Meehan Scholarship is a needs-based program designed to support women in Brevard County wishing to improve their life through education. Chartered on Dec. 1, 1983, the club has more than 20 committed members who attend monthly meetings to coordinate community projects and fundraising activities.

The scholarship will assist women at any age in need and who are working towards improving their quality of life, their independence and self sufficiency. Applicants may use the scholarship to take classes offered by the WBC such as Quickbooks, Word and Excel to upgrade their skills.
The Zonta Club of Melbourne has provided the WBC with $1,300 to-date for scholarship funds, and continues to fund this program on a quarterly basis.

The club is a member of Zonta International, a global organization of male and female executives and professionals working together to advance the status of women worldwide through service and advocacy. The Melbourne Club is in Zonta’s District 11, which encompasses the states of Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi, the Bahamas, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
