Scott Center for Autism Treatment Helps with Social Communication Challenges; Begins Sept. 5

MELBOURNE, FLA. —The Scott Center for Autism Treatment at Florida Institute of Technology presents “Get In The Game,” every Thursday, 5-6 p.m. This service is for anyone in the community, age 18-28, with Autism Spectrum Disorders such as Asperger’s Syndrome or other social communication challenges. This session begins Sept. 5 and is free. It will be held in the center’s second-floor seminar room. The program offers support in dealing with life ‘s social challenges at college or work and with friends, family and relationships.

“Get In The Game,” formerly called “Let’s Get Social,” is a weekly group session facilitated by clinical psychology doctoral students and supervised by Debra Sloane, Counseling and Psychological Services Student Affairs. Sponsored by the center’s Community Psychological Services, this session involves discussions about managing stress, communication, taking others’ perspectives, relationship issues and more.
