The Scott Center FIT Club for Social Skills and Sports Starts Sept. 11; Scholarships Available

MELBOURNE, FLA.—The Scott Center for Autism Treatment (www.thescottcenter.org) at Florida Institute of Technology begins its 2012 FIT Club for social skills and sports Sept. 11. The FIT Club is for youths ages 5-14 with an autism spectrum disorder or related disability. Sessions are twice a week, 4:30-
6 p.m.; the club runs through Nov. 15.

Sports activities feature players from many of the Florida Tech sports teams. Activities include swimming, basketball, volleyball, softball, yoga and football. Scholarship funds are available to program participants as it is part of the Aces for Autism program, which received $35,000 from the Florida Beer Pro Tennis Tournament that was held in June.

Additionally, an Aces for Autism free tennis clinic takes place Sept. 15 from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Clemente Center on campus. Special registration is available by emailing ACES@fit.edu.
