U.S. News Rankings: Florida Tech Online Business, Psychology Programs Among Best

2021 List Highlights University’s Overall Strength in Distance Learning

MELBOURNE, FLA. — Affirming its status as a leader in online education, Florida Tech bachelor’s degree programs in business and psychology were ranked among the nation’s best in U.S. News & World Report’s new 2021 Best Online Bachelor’s Programs.

“Highly ranked programs have strong traditional academic foundations based on student-instructor access, graduation rates and instructor credentials,” the magazine said in releasing its findings. “They also excel at educating distance learners while offering robust career and financial support.”

Florida Tech’s online business bachelor’s program was No. 2 among 73 private universities in the magazine’s first-ever discipline-specific ranking of undergraduate business online programs. It ranked No. 35 overall among 145 schools.

In online psychology programs, also ranked for the first time, Florida Tech was the No. 3 private school and 17th overall among the 27 ranked programs.

Additionally, Florida Tech’s online MBA program continues to receive high marks. In December, it was named a Top 50 program nationwide by The Princeton Review. U.S. News confirmed its excellence, ranking it in the top 40 programs among 153 private schools. The program was No. 135 among all 324 programs ranked overall, a 14-spot improvement from the 2020 rankings.

Strength in those specific programs and others helped propel Florida Tech to 37th among 165 private schools in overall best online baccalaureate-level programs. Among all 357 schools ranked, Florida Tech was No. 116, ahead of institutions including Rochester Institute of Technology, University of Alabama and University of Tennessee.

To create the annual rankings, U.S. News & World Report examined four areas of online bachelor program data and assigned each a portion of the overall rating: engagement (35 percent); services and technologies (25 percent); expert opinion (20 percent); and faculty credentials and training (20 percent).
