U.S. News Ranks Florida Tech’s Online Programs Among Best

MELBOURNE, FLA. — Florida Tech programs in information technology and psychology were among the standout offerings in the 2025 online program rankings from U.S. News & World Report, which also noted the strength of the university’s veterans-related programs.

Nearly 1,800 online programs at colleges and universities were assessed as part of this year’s rankings. Among the results for Florida Tech:

  • No. 29 in Best Online Bachelor’s in Psychology Programs;
  • No. 36 in Best Online Master’s in Information Technology Programs, where Florida Tech was one of just two private Sunshine State schools;
  • No. 104 in Best Online Bachelor’s in Business Programs.

Florida Tech was recognized for two of its veterans-oriented programs:

  • No. 18 in Best Online Master’s in Computer Information Technology Programs for Veterans, the highest ranking for a private school in Florida;
  • No. 82 in Best Online Bachelor’s Programs for Veterans, where Florida Tech was one of just two Florida private universities among 10 Florida entries.

“Highly ranked programs have strong traditional academic foundations based on student-instructor access, graduation rates and instructor credentials,” the magazine noted. “They also excel at educating distance learners while offering robust career and financial support.”

Overall, Florida Tech was No. 142 in Best Online Master’s in Business Programs (Excluding MBA) and No. 151 for its online bachelor programs, where 357 schools were ranked.

These rankings do not use standardized tests and rely on other factors, such as faculty credentials and training, services and technology available to students, student engagement and expert opinions on the academic quality of programs. Master’s degree programs, in addition to these criteria, are also ranked based on assessment of student excellence via undergraduate GPAs, acceptance rates and work experience.

“By evaluating factors such as student engagement and program quality, Best Online Programs rankings can help students identify which schools offer an exceptional online learning experience,” said LaMont Jones, Ed.D., managing editor for education at U.S. News.

Earlier this month, Newsweek ranked Florida Tech No. 26 – one of just two Florida schools in the top 30 – in its America’s Top Online Colleges 2025.
