Day One of 2006 Holiday Classic Hosted by Florida Tech: Panthers Tame Rams while Rollins Tar Wildcats

MELBOURNE, Fla.- At the opening of the 2006 Florida Tech Holiday Classic the Panthers
(8-2) crush the Albany State University Golden Rams (4-4) 79-40 almost doubling their point advantage to come away with the victory in favor of the
Sunshine State Conference in this SSC SIAC challenge. In the second match-up, Rollins College Tars (7-2) managed to overcome the Ft. Valley State
University Lady Wildcats (5-3) 64-48 in a late game surge.

In game one, despite the Lady Wildcats La’Toya Coard (Augusta, Ga.) scoring the first three pointer Tech managed to gain an eight point lead at 14:38 and
never look back. The first five minutes of the game was all perimeter shooting with senior Jen Tamilio (Boston, Mass.) answering Coard back from downtown
to knot the score.

Leading scorer junior Kristin Heminger (Merritt Island, Fla.) hit two more from behind the arc and launched the team to their 40-17 point lead at the half
scoring 20 for the first period. Heminger finished with a season high 25 points going 10-for-12 from the field, and a flawless 4-for-4 from the three point
zone.

Tech finished scoring 26 points from the paint to the Rams eight. The Crimson and Gray Hoopsters shot over 50% for all three ranges finishing 53.7% from
the field, 54.5% from behind the arc and 55.6% from the charity stripe.

Coard finished as the Golden Rams high scorer with nine points, three assists and four boards. Fellow starter Vanessa Jackson (Dalton, Ga.) chipped in
eight points going 3-for-4 from the field.

Tamilio hit double figures as well for Tech with 10 points adding three rebounds and six assists. Senior Danielle Vaughn (Tallahassee, Fla.) pitched in
eight points and team high five rebounds and three steals. Coming off the bench senior Danise Fequiere (Miami, Fla.) and freshman Lindsay Greene
(Stallings, N.C.) each contributed seven points with Greene pulling down five rebounds and Fequiere finishing with four boards.

Sophomore Sabrina Jones (Orlando, Fla.) played great defense with two of the three block so the game, while Greene had the third for the night. Junior six
man Tenisha Chase (Upper Marlboro, MD) pulled off a career high six steals, starting captain Kristi Harrell (Melbourne, Fla.) four steals and three
assists.

In game two, both the Tars and the Lady Wildcats started off slow with both teams only making it to a 21-17 half-time score unable to hit their shots.
Rollins and Ft. Valley managed to only shoot 20% from the field having a rough time shaking each other’s defense. Despite the tough start, the Tars came
out of the locker room more determined and finished off the Lady Wildcats 64-48.

The Lady Wildcats came within four points at 9:32 off a three pointer by Lesley Code (Aurora, Co.). But the Tars were not giving up with three consecutive
lay-ups scored by Jennifer Catti (Ft. Myers, Fla.) and Jennifer Dyer (Wake Forest, N.C.).

Dyer grabbed a double double with game high ten boards and 12 points. Fellow starter Catti added 10 points for the contest. Both players had four assists
apiece as well for the win. Senior forward Larissa McDonough (Ormond Beach, Fla.) was the game high scorer notching 18 points for the Tars. McDonough had
nine rebounds.

Ft. Valley State’s Code finished with 12 points and three rebounds. Coming off the bench, sophomore Tracie Glawson (Monticello, Ga.) lead her team with 12
points and eight rebounds.

Tomorrow’s games will face the visiting Rollins College Tars and the home Albany State Golden Rams at 2:00 p.m. and conclude with the Panthers hosting Ft.
Valley State at 4:00 p.m. Their will also be an announcement of an All-Classic team comprised of five members plus an MVP for the 2006 Holiday Classic.
