Fraternity Wins Chapter Excellence Award

MELBOURNE, FLA. — Chi Phi National Fraternity’s Xi Delta chapter at Florida Institute of Technology was awarded the Dr. Thomas Gehring Award
for Chapter Excellence at the 142nd Chi Phi Annual Congress, held in Las Vegas, Nev. The congress meets annually to review the state of the
national fraternity and for legislative business.

To earn the award, Xi Delta worked hard to reduce debt and maintain an average chapter size. The chapter also hosted a regional leadership alliance during
2006-2007.

The congress, the legislative body of the Chi Phi National Fraternity, is composed of delegates from chapters, colonies, alumni associations and Chi Phi
clubs from across the country. At the congress awards are given to exceptional chapters and representative organizations to recognize outstanding
commitment to the national fraternity’s ideals, values and policies. A special selection committee comprised of national headquarters representatives,
alumni and undergraduate representatives, decides on chapter recognition. Decisions are based on chapter performance during the previous year as well as
the application materials submitted.

The award for Chapter Excellence is named after Dr. Thomas Gehring, a Chi Phi who served the national fraternity for 20 years until his death in 1980. The
Chi Phi
Fraternity is founded on truth, honor and personal integrity, values which guide the fundamental purposes of the fraternity. Chapters are active today
on 59 college campuses.
