For the last 10 years, every aircraft maintenance technician at Florida Tech Aviation has put in extra work. Without fail, each year, they participate in specialized training in aviation safety, technical knowledge, aircraft systems, aviation regulations and FAA compliance guidance.
They do this for the safety and success of students and their instructors, first. They do it for pride, too. They do it because excellence is expected at Florida Tech.
For the 10th straight year, excellence has been achieved.
The Federal Aviation Administration recognized these special efforts at Florida Tech Aviation, these commitments to training and safety, with the highest recognition it has for maintenance technicians: the Diamond Award of Excellence for Aviation Maintenance Technician Training.
“The Florida Tech Aviation Maintenance Department is a foundational element contributing to the success of our flight training programs, and so commitment to safety must always be our highest priority,” said Travis Dietz, director of maintenance. “We are proud to be recognized again by the FAA with their highest award for aviation maintenance departments. This recognition represents the daily efforts every member of our team makes to support our flight students and flight instructors.”
Flight Operations Executive Director Jay Arcemont said Dietz is an exceptional leader, instilling in his team both the value of these extra efforts and the desire to do them.
“The FAA qualifications for the Diamond Award are reviewed and strengthened annually, so to be recognized for 10 consecutive years is a testament to the commitment from Travis and his team to this heightened level of training and expertise,” Arcemont said.
Established in 1991, the Diamond Award is a certification that speaks to the expertise among a company’s or flight department’s maintenance technicians. To qualify, 100% of the organization’s maintenance technicians must participate.
