Florida Tech Signs MOU with CommutAir for Airline Pilot and Dispatcher Development Program

MELBOURNE, FLA.—Florida Institute of Technology has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with CommutAir/United Express, to provide a development and bridging program for qualified Florida Tech aeronautics program students. The MOU was signed at the university’s annual Aviation Safety Symposium, held on campus in October.

“These internships will provide students with a very good understanding of what we’re all about,” said CommutAir Director of Training Nick DeLotell. “They will see every department and every aspect of what we do and really learn how this airline operates. We feel very fortunate to create this opportunity with Florida Tech.”

The MOU offers Florida Tech College of Aeronautics student internships and employment opportunities for juniors, seniors and graduates who aspire to be airline pilots or dispatchers. It is expected that four Florida Tech students will be involved each year.

Florida Tech Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer T. Dwayne McCay also spoke at the signing ceremony:
