Malmquist Named 2024 Top Aviation Expert

Shem Malmquist, a visiting professor in the College of Aeronautics, working Boeing 777 captain and internationally known aviation safety expert and accident investigator, can add another title to his long list: Top Aviation Expert.

The International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP) bestowed that 2024 honor on Malmquist, and he and others will be recognized at the group’s annual awards gala in Nashville later this year.

These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, longevity in the field, other affiliations and contributions to their communities.

Able to explain complex issues in understandable terms, and with the experience to take the story forward as it evolves, Malmquist has been featured in The New York TimesThe Washington Post, National Public Radio, CNN, CNBC, Fox Business, Miami Herald, Houston Chronicle and other media outlets.

“Choosing Mr. Shem Malmquist for this honor was an easy decision for our panel to make,” said IAOTP President Stephanie Cirami. “He is inspirational, influential, and a true visionary and thought leader. We cannot wait to meet him and celebrate his accomplishments at this year’s gala.”

Malmquist told the group that he attributes his success to perseverance, work ethic and the mentors he has had along the way.
