Florida Tech Alum Receives Harris Fellow Award for 2011

Mark Thompson, a senior scientist with the RF Communications Division of Harris Corporation has been named recipient of the Harris Fellow Award for 2011. The Harris Fellow Award is the company’s highest recognition for engineering achievement.

Thompson has been with Harris Corporation for 28 years and has been recognized for his expertise and ongoing contributions to sustaining Harris’ position as the leading provider of military tactical communications around the world. He has also played an instrumental role in the development of the company’s renowned Falcon family of radios.

Thompson received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He also holds master’s degrees in electrical engineering and systems engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology and Florida Institute of Technology, respectively. In addition, Thompson is currently working on a master’s degree in applied statistics at Rochester Institute of Technology.
