Florida Tech Fills Calendar with Black History Month Activities

– Florida Tech’s Black History Month Committee, led by student organizations, offers a variety of experiences to celebrate Black History Month. Many of the
activities are open to the public.

A mobile educational display, viewable on Mondays and Wednesdays in February, offers cultural art, history books, sculptures, crafts, thematic posters,
fashion items and music. To find out where the exhibit is the day you might visit, contact Joel Joseph at (321) 960-6019.

On Feb. 15 is “Consciousness,” a live documentary series, 7 to 9 p.m. This edited sequence of video clips will be interspersed with performances of dance,
poetry readings and songs. On Feb. 28, 7 to 10 p.m., the fashion show, “Black Fashion on the Runway,” will offer models in cultural garments, jewelry and
hairstyles. Both of these free events will take place in the Gleason Performing Arts Center.

Additionally, throughout the month the campus community is participating in an online black history competition, with one question mailed via the Internet
each day. The campus community also will take part in a socio-economic and cultural debate tournament early in the month. Also open to the public is an
