Homecoming 2011 Gala to Feature All-faculty Band TWITCHY Nov. 5
MELBOURNE, FLA.—The Florida Institute of Technology Homecoming Gala Nov. 5 will feature the university’s all-faculty band, TWITCHY, led by President Anthony J. Catanese.
“TWITCHY will play rock ‘n roll with a few country favorites in the mix,” said Jamie Younkin, TWITCHY member and university music director. “We may also play some of the original new songs we’ve been working on; they’re in a wide array of styles, from Latin to rock to country.”
The evening starts with a cocktail hour at 6 p.m., followed by an awards dinner at 7 p.m. in the university’s Charles and Ruth Clemente Center for Sports and Recreation. TWITCHY will be part of the dancing and musical entertainment at the Clemente Center following the dinner, with Homecoming’s “Hollywood Nights” theme.
The evening will honor several alumni high achievers from Brevard County, including Dale A. Dettmer ’71 M.S., and Kathy Meehan ‘92 B.S. Additionally, each of the university’s five college deans has nominated one person for an Outstanding Alumnus Award from their respective colleges. Among them is Michael Sole ‘86, former head of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).
