Panthers Once Again Defeat 2005 NCAA II National Champs Lynn, 4-1

MELBOURNE, Fla.-Sophomore starter Amber West (Apopka, Fla.) notched another win hurling a complete 7.0 innings to improve her record to 6-2 overall. West
allowed six hits and one solo home run, while fanning six for her fourth conference victory.

Florida Tech (9-3, 4-0) grabbed their third win against the #25 Lynn Fighting Knights (10-8, 0-4) and first conference win at the Varsity Field this
afternoon. Despite Lynn’s top two players returning to the line-up in Christina Rolla (Wallingford, Conn.) and Danielle Curcio (Canberra, Australia), Tech
was able to overcome the Knights and hold them to only one run.

The Panthers struck first scoring in the bottom of the first. Junior lead off Laura Chisena (Ocoee, Fla.) opened the inning launching one to right field.
Fellow junior Katie Naumoff (Poland, Ohio) successful moved her to second on a sacrifice bunt placed down the left line. Chisena didn’t stop at second and
continued her run to third out hustling the throw. She then took advantage of a bad throw by Lynn’s first baseman Rolla and placed Tech on the board.

Chisena finished 2-for-3 with one run, while Naumoff went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI for the conference game.

Both teams remained scoreless in the second and third, Tech came alive again in the fourth and fifth scoring their final three runs. Pinch runner Zoe
Morzko (Teaneck, N.J.) notched the winning run for the Panthers. Morozko took advantage of another error by Rolla to advance to second. Sophomore Dana
Buccelli (Melbourne, Fla.) brought home Morozko on a shot to right center landing Buccelli on second base.

Naumoff and fellow junior Danielle Emhoff (Canton, Conn.) scored the next two runs for Tech to clinch the conference win. Naumoff and senior Courtney
Harless each roped singles down the line grabbing the Crimson and Gray’s final two RBI’s for the afternoon.

Harless was perfect from the plate going 1-for-1 with the final RBI.

Lynn’s Rolla nailed the Fighting Knights lone run of the game grabbing her third homer of the season sending it over the right center wall.

Local freshman pitcher Khristy Salario (Titusville, Fla.) suffered the loss allowing six hits on four runs. She placed two on while striking out one for
her 24 batters faced in  five innings of work. Reliever freshman Rachel Foster (Woodbridge, Conn.) closed for the Knights allowing no runs on no hits
for one inning.

Both teams will face each other tomorrow in a double header at the Varsity Field. First pitch will be at 1:00 p.m.
