Scott Center Evening of Hope Raises $300K

More than 350 Attend Gala Event at Shah Residence

MELBOURNE, FLA. — Amid the splendor of Mike and Rashmi Shah’s home on Merritt Island, more than 350 people helped make The Scott Center for Autism Treatment’s recent fundraiser, An Evening of Hope VI: Night of Wishes, the best yet.

The annual event for the Florida Institute of Technology-based center raised more than $300,000, a record total. That included more than $105,000 in scholarship money raised in WISH funds in just 30 minutes, as guests made a flurry of $100 pledge WISHes, as well as $30,000 raised in the raffle for a Rolex watch, donated for the third year in a row by Kempf’s Jewelers. The money raised will also be put toward establishing a behavioral pediatrics clinic.

“We can all make a difference in the lives of others,” said Mike Shah. “I believe in my heart everyone wants to give and help.”

An Evening of Hope VI was co-chaired by Claudia O’Brien and Melissa Parker. It featured food from Creative Catering and Taste of India, entertainment by Derek and the Slammers, and a beer tent offering Florida Beer Company beverages.

“We are honored to have this event at our home,” Shah added.

The Scott Center for Autism Treatment is a not-for-profit health care clinic formed in 2009 at Florida Tech. The clinic is dedicated to applying research, treatment and training to improve the function and quality of life for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and related disabilities.
