Florida Tech’s Online Bachelor Program Among Nation’s Best

In the Top 50 of U.S. News & World Report Rankings

MELBOURNE, FLA. — Florida Institute of Technology’s online bachelor’s degree program is among the best in the country, according to U.S. News & World Report’s 2015 Best Online Programs rankings released this month.

Comparing nearly 300 schools, the magazine ranked Florida Tech’s “Online Bachelor‘s Program” No. 40 in the nation, ahead of schools such as University of Central Florida and Rochester Institute of Technology.

U.S. News assessed schools based on four categories: student engagement; faculty credentials and training; peer reputation; and student services and technology.

“We realize that a growing number of students are seeking a non-traditional approach to their education while still expecting to receive world-class instruction that utilizes the latest technology,” said Florida Tech President and CEO Anthony J. Catanese. “These 2015 rankings indicate that Florida Tech is meeting and exceeding those students’ needs, and we look forward to continuing to strengthen and deepen our online programs.”

The magazine noted, for example, that the online classes in Florida Tech’s bachelor’s program are recorded and archived “so students can access lecture material at their own convenience.”

“This ranking reflects our faculty’s dedication and excellence as well as the commitment and desire of our students to create a collaborative online environment that allows the Florida Tech tradition of ‘High Tech with a Human Touch’ to flourish in these virtual classrooms,” said Brian Ehrlich, the university’s associate vice president of online learning.
