Panthers Fall to Barry in Women’s Soccer

Due to Hurricane Wilma Tech played one day earlier and fell 3-1 in SSC Action.

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. The Panthers (5-7-2, 1-4-1) fell to the Buc’s (12-2-2, 6-1-0) on their senior night allowing senior forward Emelie Karlsson to capture a
hat trick in her final regular season home contest.

The Buc’s struck first in the first half (17:30) when fellow senior Tina Saario fed Karlsson inside the box and Karlsson was able to chip the ball over the
diving sophomore keeper, Erica Wales (Huntsville, Ala.). The score remained 1-0 heading into half-time.

Coming out of the 15 minute break, Karlsson scored her the eventual game winner and nightcap in 0:18 seconds between the two at the 65th minute, Saario
picking up her second assist of the evening on the first goal and Daniela Tjeder and senior Elisa Pirinen assisting on the second goal.

The final goal of the game came from Tech who was able to break the shut-out for Barry scoring in the final two minutes of the game. Senior Kelli Huarte
(Manteca, Calif.) drove it past bench keeper Liz Morgan off a corner kick by junior midfielder Tara Euginedes that was first deflected by the Barry
defender. This was Huarte’s 11th goal on the season which puts her at the top of the all women’s scorers for Florida Tech.

Starting goal keeper Kelly Tryson was awarded the win and recorded two saves. Wales despite the loss tallied 12 saves on the evening.

Florida Tech will be back in action next week. They were scheduled to play St. Thomas University in Miami on Sunday, October 23rd at 2:00 p.m. which has
been cancelled due to Hurricane Wilma. Tech will finish off their regular season next week, when they host Rollins on Wednesday the 26th at 3:00 p.m. and
on Saturday the 29th they will host Eckerd at 3:00 p.m. on the Stottler Field as part of their Parent’s weekend and senior day festivities.
