op

The Evans Library has joined libraries, publishers, and other academic and research organizations, large and small, to celebrate International Open Access Week.  Today’s topic of discussion is the The Future of Academic Publishing by Example: The Journal of Interaction Science, presented by Dr. Susanne Bahr, Associate Professor, School of Psychology and founding Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Interaction Science (JoIS), a SpringerOpen journal.

Academic publishing is changing as a result of the digital revolution, and reputable publishers are pioneering new models of peer reviewed research publishing: an example is the SpringerOpen model. The presentation will give insights regarding the motivations and reality of academic publishing online with SpringerOpen. Part of this overview is the discussion and debunking of myths and misconceptions about open access and online publishing for academics. To this end we present the Journal of Interaction Science as an exemplar. This includes the journal development and success as a peer reviewed, high quality, open-access, online publication.
