Two at Florida Tech Named Stellar Student Employees

– Two Florida Tech students took top honors in the 12th Annual Student Employee of the Year Ceremony. As their award, they split $1,000 in scholarship
funding from the Coca-Cola Company.

Graduate student Sunil Patel earned the technical (major-related) award for his work in the Applied Computing center as the operations manager and system
administrator. His supervisor, Nicole Hoier, said, “Sunil is the most mature and proactive thinker I have had over the years.”

Haley Madigan, a senior majoring in marine biology, took home the non-technical (non-major-related) award for her work for Dr. Debra Blenis, director of
teacher education. Blenis said that Haley’s “work ethic is unmatched. She does the absolute best job she can do on every task.”

This academic year, for the first time, a supervisor of the year award was given. It went to Nicole Hoier. She received nominations from several of her
students who lauded her flexibility and encouragement of students to create their own projects to improve the Applied Computing Center.

Awards are based on feedback from supervisors regarding the reliability, initiative and work quality of the student employees. Students also are chosen for
exhibiting an outstanding work ethic and for making a major contribution to the organizations that employ them.
