Tech Continue Dominating Visitors, Win 17-4

MELBOURNE, Fla.- The Florida Tech Panthers scored 17 runs today in stunning fashion to beat the visiting St. Thomas Aquinas Spartans, 17-4. Senior Devin
Hopkins (Pembroke Pine, FL) went an incredible 5-5 at the plate, with three doubles. He also scored four runs while driving in two and walking once.

Junior Jon Baksh (Mississauga, Canada) and junior Eamonn Powers (Staten Island, NY) each drove in five RBIs. Baksh went 3-5 at the plate with a homerun,
two stolen bases, and four runs scored. Powers went 2-5 with a run.

St. Thomas struck first, scoring one run in the top of the first. The leadoff batter, sophomore Jason Pominiski (Shirley, NY) led off the game with a
single and quickly stole second base. After two consecutive strikeouts the Spartans clean-up batter stepped up to the plate and smacked an RBI single.

Tech put their first runs on the board in the second inning. The of the first four batters reached base safely, loading them for sophomore Brendan Twomey
(Boca Raton, FL) who hit into a fielder’s choice, scoring one run. Sophomore Brandon Veronee (Chester, VA) cleared the bases with an two-run double.

The Panthers added three more runs in the third. Junior Steve Condotta (Mississauga, Canada) led off the inning with a double to centerfield. The next
batter, Jon Baksh, reached base on an error by the Spartan shortstop, advancing Condotta to third for the hard hitting Devin Hopkins. Hopkins came through
with an RBI-double, scoring Condotta and advancing Baksh to third. Eamonn Powers followed Hopkins with another double, scoring Baksh and Hopkins to take a
6-1 lead.

St. Thomas scored two more runs in the top of the fourth, but Tech answered back with four runs in the bottom of the inning to pad their lead. Tech added
an additional three runs in the fifth inning. With one out and a runner on first Steve Condotta smacked a single, putting runners on the corner. Jon Baksh
followed Condotta with another single, scoring the runner on third and advancing Steve to third. With runners on the corner again Devin Hopkins hit another
double, scoring Condotta again and advancing Baksh to third. Baksh would later score on an Eamonn Powers infield groundball.

Tech added their final four runs of the game in the seventh inning. Three of the runs came off the Jon Baksh homerun blast to right field.

Tech went through four pitchers today. They combined for nine innings pitched and allowed 12 hits and four runs while allowing no base on balls. They also
struck out 10 opponents.

With the win the Panthers extend their win-streak to 10 games. Tech is now 18-6 on the season while the Spartans fall to 2-6. The Panthers head on the road
this weekend to face SSC rivals Lynn University in a three-game series.
