Amanda Boyce Hits 1,000 Assists Despite Tough Season Opening Loss 3-1

MELBOURNE, Fla. (volleyball) — The Florida Tech Panthers (0-1) opened up their season with a tough loss 3-1 to Palm Beach Atlantic (2-0). The game scores
were 30-22, 20-22, 27-30 and 30-19. The Panthers had a rough opener after a delay in the match due to a leak in the Clemente Center roof after a torrential
rain storm. After a change in court set-up and forty five minute re-set up the Panthers were under way with the match.

Freshman outside hitter Frankie Brown (Panama City, Fla.) jumped started her collegiate career leading her team with 17 kills. Brown also notched 18.5
points along with hitting .205 for the afternoon. Brown also managed to hit every stat category with three assists, one service ace, six digs and one
block.

Senior Jenny McCoy (Titusville, Fla.) led the Panthers with a .326 attack percentage as the only other Tech member to tally double figures in kills with 14
for the match. McCoy chipped in three block assists along with junior setter Amanda Boyce (Madison, Wis.). Boyce who also reached a career milestone hit
set her 1,000th assist in the third game pushing Tech ahead to win 30-27 taking the third.

Boyce is now one of only seven other Panther setters to reach the 1,000 mark. Freshman libero Melissa Reinders (Orlando, Fla.) led all players with 17 digs
for her collegiate debut.

The Panthers will be back in action next weekend traveling to Valdosta, Georgia for the Azalea Classic playing four matches on Friday and Saturday.
