Gain Insight into the Meaning of Shakespeare’s Writings at Florida Tech Lecture July 9

MELBOURNE, FLA.—“To be wise and love, Exceeds man’s might” wrote the great bard. Shakespeare is easily one of the most quoted writers in history, especially regarding love. Exploring the meanings in Shakespeare’s love poems will be Florida Institute of Technology humanities faculty member John Frongillo in his lecture, “Shakespeare’s Sonnets: Love, Sex, and Fame.” It is scheduled for Tuesday July 9 at 10 a.m. in the F.W. Olin Engineering Building, Room 118, on campus. Long considered some of the greatest love poems ever written in the English language, Shakespeare’s sonnets continue to mesmerize generations of lovers, poets and readers. But, what makes them so great? This lecture will examine Shakespeare’s poems and provide insight into the complexity and meaning of his art.
