Florida Tech Women’s Rowing Wins Two Golds at Dad Vail Regatta

V4 and V8 Teams Take Top Honors

PHILADELPHIA – No. 3 Florida Tech women’s rowing had put together an excellent weekend at the Dad Vail Regatta as the team took home two golds and a fourth place finish.
 
The JV4 was the first boat in the water for the Panthers. The lineup of Rebecca Red (bow), Leigh-Riane AmsterdamGlynnis KillenRebecca Miller (stroke) and Hana Malia Ito (coxswain) crossed the line in 7:30.846 which was good for a fourth-place finish.
 
Next up was the V4 who made it back-to-back wins on the weekend. The Panthers’ crew (7:10.424) of Emily Hall (bow), Allyson McCarronJulia SeiboldShaula Rey (stroke) and Nashaita Patrawalla (coxswain) bested No. 2 UC San Diego (7:13.679) by over three seconds.
 
The V8 of Graysen Pensch(bow), Liza LutterIrina DjurovicAnna Kayser GallegoTheresa GadilheSvetlana RistinFederica PalaNatalia Arasa Bonavila (stroke) and Taylor Stoni(coxswain) also grabbed its second win of the weekend. With the win, the Crimson and Gray earned the Henry Backe Trophy as they finished the course in 6:24.522 which was two seconds quicker than UC San Diego’s boat.
 
The Panthers will now wait for the NCAA selection show to see if their season will extend to the national champions in Indianapolis. The team will have to wait till Monday, May 20, at 5 p.m. ET to find out if they will make their third straight NCAA Championship appearance.
