Head Baseball Coach Paul Knight Resigns from Florida Tech

MELBOURNE, Fla. – After five years with the Florida Tech baseball program, Head Coach Paul
Knight has announced his resignation. He accepted the head coaching position at Lenoir-Rhyne College in Hickory, North Carolina, on Friday, August 3.
This decision came with having family in the area and the soon arrival of his baby boy.

“I’m excited about the opportunity to get closer to family and back to the Carolinas,” said Knight.

Under Knight’s leadership, Florida Tech baseball has improved its winning percentage as a team, was ranked as high as No. 20 in the NCAA Division
II coaches poll and has had two players (Jon Baksh and Steven Condotta) drafted to the Toronto Blue Jays. Last year, the Panthers finished 30-21 and fifth
place in the Sunshine State Conference (SSC) with three players on the All-SSC team.

“I think this program has made tremendous strides and has a great future,” said Knight. “I’m confident that my successor will lead them to more post-season
appearances and that more players will be drafted this year and in years to come.”

 Coach Knight will join a program at Lenoir-Rhyne that has known its share of success in the past. Last year, the Bears finished 35-17 for fourth
place in the South Atlantic Conference (SAC). In addition, Taylor MacCurdy and Dallas Tarleton were named to the 2007 All-SAC first team while Justin
Crowell was selected as the SAC Freshman of the Year. Knight hopes to lead the Bears to conference championships and regional appearances on a consistent
basis.

“We are sorry he is leaving us and are appreciative of his work for the program during the past five years,” said Florida Tech Athletics Director Bill
Jurgens. “Paul always conducted himself in a professional manner and displayed integrity in carrying out his responsibilities. The athletics department
will miss him, but we are happy for him if this in any way furthers his career.”

Assistant Coach Greg Berkemeier will be taking over as interim head coach until a permanent replacement is found. A national search will begin shortly.

“We are hopeful to find someone as dedicated and hard working as Paul has been,” said Jurgens.
