Chopper Dropper Tickets Available Now, More Prizes Added in 2007

MELBOURNE, FLA. — Tickets are now available for the Florida Tech Sporting Affair’s fourth annual Chopper Dropper, which will take place March 16, 2007 at the
Suntree Country Club. The event raises money for Florida Tech athlete scholars.
Exactly 2,000 numbered golf balls will be loaded into a helicopter and dropped near the Suntree Country Club clubhouse. The ball that lands closest to the
pin/flag wins $25,000.
The 2007 event planners have added an additional 12 new prizes. The ball landing second closest to the pin wins $10,000; third closest wins $5,000. Also,
10 runner-up prizes of $1,000 each will be awarded, for a grand total of $50,000 to be given away. All proceeds from the event support athletics
scholarships for deserving Florida Tech student-athletes.
Each golf ball sponsor of $50 has a chance at the prizes and may attend the reception with a guest to watch the action live, starting at 5 p.m. that
day.
In the 2006-2007 academic year, more than 300 students participate in Florida Tech athletics programs in 15 different sports. Sixty-six are on full
athletics scholarships and more than 140 receive some financial assistance.
Scholarship funding, in large part through Sporting Affair, has increased more than four-fold since 1996.
The Chopper Dropper is part of the Sporting Affair XV, which also includes a golf tournament and a $1 Million Hole-in-One Shootout. For Chopper Dropper
