‘Chronicle of Higher Education’ Names Florida Tech Among Fastest Growing Universities in Nation

MELBOURNE, FLA.—Florida Institute of Technology was recently listed as #3 of the 20 fastest-growing campuses, 2000-2010, among private nonprofit research institutions in the Chronicle of Higher Education Almanac 2012. Included on the list were Drexel University, Cornell University, Georgetown University and Rice University.

The listing noted that Florida Tech had a fall 2000 enrollment of 4,248 and a fall 2010 enrollment of 8,985. The data was based on the number of full- and part-time undergraduate and graduate students. Florida Tech students matriculate at the Melbourne campus, at 10 Department of Extended Studies sites on the East Coast and through online learning.

“We are pleased to see our rapid growth in recent years acknowledged by the Chronicle,” said President Anthony J. Catanese. “Our ability to offer high tech learning opportunities while maintaining small class sizes continues to set Florida Tech apart.”
