Community, Take Note of Florida Tech Summer Institute Lecture
– Florida Tech, as part of its 2006 Faculty Summer Institute, offers the upcoming lecture, “The Digital Age: Teaching and Learning for Tomorrow Today” at
no charge to the public. It’s scheduled for May 8, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. in the F.W. Olin Engineering Auditorium. Educators, home school teachers, parents
and anyone interested in education are all welcome.
The speaker is Dr. Mark Benno, education development executive for Apple Computer. Benno is welcomed by educators nationwide for his talks on the future of
technology and education, and on the ways that students today impact our educational systems.
In the annual institute, faculty and staff members participate in a one-week workshop in early May, develop their projects over the summer, and present
results to the Florida Tech community early in the fall term. The projects join teaching and learning excellence with instructional technology under this
year’s theme, “Collaboration in Teaching and Learning.” Faculty members Dr. Wade Shaw and Carol Shehadeh, directors for the Center for Teaching and
Learning Excellence, sponsor the event.
