Lifelong Learning Lecture: Engineered Blood Vessels, June 28, 2018

30 percent of patients with coronary and peripheral artery disease do not have veins that can be used for grafts during surgery. Tissue engineering provides a solution.

During this month’s Lifelong Learning Lecture, Dr. Christopher Bashur will discuss what vascular tissue engineering is and why the size of the vessel matters when engineering new tissue. This will include a description of the difference between engineering larger arteries and small capillaries that are found in skin, muscle and other tissue.
