Tech Falls to DII Powerhouse Barry 3-0

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Senior outside Hitter Kelly Currin was the only Panther to notch double figures in kills smacking a team high with 12 and hitting a
.417 attack percentage despite the 3-0 loss against defending National Champions Barry University (17-18, 10-2) in Sunshine State Conference volleyball
action tonight at the Health & Sports Center.

Barry’s senior middle hitter Kelly Dantas (Sao Paulo, Brazil) mirrored Tech’s own Kelly from a week ago recording her 1,000th kill to lead the Buc’s in
taking all three sets 30-17, 30-18 and 30-21.

Dantas who hit .484 for the match grabbed a match high with 17 kills. Sophomore Samara de Freitas (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) hit a profound .634 adding 11
kills for the Buc’s while junior Nicole Castera (San Juan, Puerto Rico) pitched in 13 kills hitting .500. Senior setter Michele Rosamiglia (Sao Paulo,
Brazil) put up a match high 46 assists. On the counter attack, junior Jentry Redinger (Scottsdale, Arizona) tallied 11 digs.

Currin along with sophomore outside hitter Brenna Lane (Dade City, Florida) each combined for Tech’s lone block. Lane also chipped in six digs and two
service aces. Sophomore setter Amanda Boyce (Madison, Wisconsin) dished out her team high with 12 assists and two service aces as well. Covering the back
row, junior libero Megan Konopnicki (Plano, Texas) tallied eight digs for the Panthers.

The Panthers (9-23, 4-11) finish off their 2005 campaign facing Nova Southeastern in Ft. Lauderdale at a new scheduled time of 5:00 p.m. tomorrow.
