Dr. Slotkin receives award

Michael Slotkin, Ph.D., assistant professor of economics, has been named one of the Florida Tech student government’s Faculty of the Year winners. Dr.
Slotkin and the other faculty winners will be recognized at the annual student government awards banquet. Dr. Slotkin teaches environmental and resource
economics, managerial economics as well as macroeconomics and microeconomics. Among his research interests are strategic trade and commercial policies and
welfare reform and public assistance. Dr. Slotkin and fellow School of Management professors Dr. Karen Chambliss and Dr. Alex Vamosi are participating in
an international project to promote ecotourism in Hungary. Dr. Slotkin is the faculty advisor for the Florida Tech chapter of the Society for the
Advancement of Management (SAM). He also took a bow recently as a cast member of the College Players’ spring production of “How to Succeed in Business
Without Really Trying.” Dr. Slotkin’s other Florida Tech awards include: -Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers, September 2002 -Florida Tech chapter of
Future Educators of America (FEA), 3rd Place Teaching Excellence Award, November 2000. -Honorary membership in the Phi Eta Sigma Freshmen Honor Society,
April 1998.
