Panthers Take SSC Home Opener 6-2 over Lynn

MELBOURNE, Fla. – In the SSC home opener between the Panthers and Knights, the Panthers took game one of the three game series here at Florida Tech 6-2 for
their first win in conference play.

Tech got the bats swinging early with back to back doubles to lead off the bottom of the first. Brendan Twomey (Boca Raton, Fla.) drove in the first run
with his double after Nick Brennan (Detroit, Mich.) led the game off with his own double. Brennan and Twomey each had two hits apiece and each had one RBI
on the afternoon. Twomey would score the second run as Steve Condotta (Mississauga, Ontario) who went four for five from the plate drove in his first of
two RBI on the afternoon.

In the second, without skipping a beat, the Panthers would score two more runs off a four base hit inning with Brennan and Condotta driving in Trevor Hearl
(Cape Coral, Fla.) and JD Davidson (Naples, Fla.) who reached on back to back singles.

The Knights would go on a two run three hit fifth inning to cut the lead to 4-2 but with the Panthers due up in the fifth, Tech gapped the 4-2 lead to 6-2
off of three hits from Twomey, Condotta, and Eric Trillas (Hialeah, Fla.) with Sam Palace (Clarkston, Mich.) and Trillas driving in the two RBI.

The Panthers went on to combine for 12 hits scoring 6 runs with the top of the Panthers lineup totaling 8 of the 12 hits; Brennan, Twomey, and Condotta in
that order. The other three hits came from Trillas, Hearl, and Davidson.

A total of four Panther pitchers were used for the victory over the Knights with starting pitcher Jay Crouse (Naples, Fla.) earning his fourth win of the
year. Crouse struck out five giving up five hits and the two runs scored by the Knights. A combination of Brett Backman (Ontario, Canada), Jody Danca
(Naples, Fla.), and Jake Koch (Orlando, Fla.) finished off the Knights.

The Panthers earned their first victory in the Sunshine State Conference 1-0 and move to a 15-6 overall record and continue to play Lynn on Saturday, March
10th in a double header with the first game starting at 12 noon at the Andy Seminick-Les Hall Field.
