Two Students Earn Florida Independent College Fund Scholarships

– Two Florida Tech students have each earned a $2,500 scholarship from the Florida Independent College Fund (FICF). They are junior David J. D’Agostino, of
Melbourne, and science education graduate student Loren M. Kerschensteiner, of W. Melbourne. D’Agostino, a math education major, earned a FICF Degree
Completer II Scholarship. This is intended to aid Floridians financially in completing their bachelor’s degrees. The university nominates Degree Completer
Scholars. D’Agostino’s achievements include graduating with honors from Brevard Community College and performing 31 community service-learning hours.

Kerschensteiner, a science teacher at Central Middle School in W. Melbourne, earned a FICF Current Teachers Scholarship. Her 2002 bachelor’s degree in
chemical engineering is from Florida Tech.

The FICF administers these scholarship programs. It is a not-for-profit foundation for program and resources development for the Independent Colleges and
Universities of Florida. Based in DeLand, FICF is dedicated to providing financial assistance to students attending Florida’s 28 independent colleges and
