Eagles Soar Past Panthers 3-0 In Regional Volleyball Action

MELBOURNE, Fla.-The Florida Tech Panthers (4-10) fell in three games to the Florida Gulf Coast University Eagles (12-2) in women’s NCAA DII South Regional
volleyball action tonight at the Clemente Center. The game scores were 30-19, 30-18 and 30-17.

The Eagles out hit the Panthers .331 to a Tech’s below average attack percentage of .154. Florida Gulf Coast tallied 55 kills while playing 14 members of
their squad during the match.

Leading the way for FGCU was junior, middle blocker Erika Fonseca (Belo Horizante, Brazil) who notched the game high 14 kills and .455 attack percentage.
Sophomore, outside hitter Brook Youngquist (Fort Myers, FL) followed closely chipping in 13 kills and 10 digs while hitting .370 for the evening.
Defensively, senior Libero Ingrid Felicio (Sarasota, FL) recorded the match high in digs with 14. Fonseca and sophomore, middle blocker Lauren
Stockman-Puder (Fort Myers, FL) led at the net each chipping in three blocks.

Tech’s sophomore setter Amanda Boyce (Madison, WI) led her team in numerous categories including seven kills, 15 assists and a .400 hitting percentage.
Boyce also added eight digs. Fellow senior setter, Natasha Bender (Columbus, NE) also hit.400 for the evening and led defensively with nine digs for the
match. Sophomore, middle hitter Lindsey Foster (Titusville, FL) also played well tallying a career high .364 attack percentage.

The Panthers will be back in action on Friday, September 23rd hosting Rollins College in another SSC match at 7:00 p.m. in the Clemente Center on Florida
Tech’s campus.
