Iacobelli Heads to Nationals

LAKELAND, Fla. – After another impressive finish at the 2007 NCAA Division II South Regional
Women’s Golf Tournament
hosted by Florida Southern at the Club at Eaglebrook Daniela Iacobelli (Melbourne, Fla.) earned one of only two individual
bids to the “Big Show”. Iacobelli, who positioned herself in second place after the first 36 holes, finished in fourth place to earn the coveted spot. She
shot a three round 225, nine-over par, with a 73-73-79 to finish the 56-hole competition.

“She really has made a statement from the beginning of her collegiate career winning the first tourney she ever played in as a freshman at the 2006 Saint
Leo Fall Invitational,” said head coach Janie Farina. “I never had a doubt in her ability and she is definitely putting Florida Tech on the DII Women’s
Golf map.”

Medalist honors were shared by Nova Southeastern’s Maria Garcia Austt and Laura Fourdraine of Rollins. Each player shot a four-over par 220 for the
tournament, but Fourdraine had to overcome a three-stroke deficit to earn that spot. Austt held a two-stroke lead over the Panthers’ Iacobelli when the day
began, and Iacobelli kept that distance throughout the first half of Wednesday. However, she started to slip on the back nine, and Fourdraine hit birdies
on #10 and #12 to pull even with Austt.

Despite the tough putting coming in the final 18 holes, Iacobelli still qualified for the national tournament as an individual, along with Austt. The top
two golfers not affiliated with one of the advancing teams also earns a spot in the national field. Iacobelli earned that spot by finishing one stroke
ahead of Barry’s RemiJin Camping, who had actually overtaken her at one point.

However, a double-bogey on 16 hurt Camping badly, allowing Iacobelli to pull back in front by one stroke. They played evenly over the final two holes as
Iacobelli became the first Florida Tech women’s golfer to earn a bid to the national tournament.

“Her first two rounds were played near flawless as she stuck to the plan and showed great maturity despite being a sophomore,” said Farina. “Daniela’s
putting kind of swayed in the final 18-holes but she pushed forward and played hard. She hits the ball as well as any one out there.”

The Division II National Championship begins on May 9 in Pace, Florida, hosted by the University of West Florida, which finished third in the South Region
Tournament. It was a bitter end for the Argonauts, who entered the final round just one stroke out of first, but shot a 315 to finish 16 strokes behind the
second-place Tars.

“I plan on just getting her to play her our own game …one shot at a time and hopefully getting her to stay in the moment,” said Farina. “By not setting
high expectations for Daniela she should definitely be a contender once again for the top pack.”

The Florida Southern Mocs, the regional champions along with the defending 2006 National Champions Rollins College Tars along with Aust and Iacobelli will
advance to the Division II Women’s Championship May 9-12 at Stonebrook Golf Club.

Despite her incredible season play and topping the conference tourney, Iacobelli has proven being snubbed by the SSC voters for this season’s All
Conference Team has not effective her play. She has definitely earned her spot to play with the best in the country.

Iacobelli, a sophomore Business Administration major, earlier this month won the 2007 SSC Women’s Golf Championship Medalist Honors after a play-off at
their home course of the Duran Golf Club in Viera, Florida. She (80-73-73=226) won a four-hole playoff over Nova Southeastern Maria Garcia-Austt
(81-70-75=226) to claim women’s medalist accolades. She was Tech’s first ever women’s golfer to make the all tournament team as well.

She is a two-year member of the four year old program as well as the 2006 SSC Women’s Freshman Golfer of the Year as a local standout golfer from Satellite
Beach High School. Iacobelli strived under the play-off pressure after grabbing par on the 10 thru 13 holes to overcome Aust in the final hole with a 2
putt finish to her competitor’s three putt finish.

Daniela’s career low round is 71 and has won two collegiate tournaments in her short career. She is currently ranked #1 in the Nation by GolfStat for par 5
scoring with a 4.91 as well as subpar strokes per round at 2.88.
