Eckerd Sweeps Tech in SSC Tennis Action
MELBOURNE, Fla.-The Panthers (1-6, 0-2 men/2-3, 1-1 women) fell 8-1 in men’s action and 6-3 in women’s action against Sunshine State Conference opponent
Eckerd College Tritons (5-0, 1-0 men/6-0, 1-0 women) at the Fee Avenue Courts today.
On the men’s #40 Florida Tech’s lone individual win came from the #5 singles action of freshman Nick Bonilla (Atlanta, Georgia) defeating Brian Lynch of
Eckerd 6-1, 6-1. In men’s single action, Every Panther managed to take some points in each of the sets from #9 Eckerd.
In doubles action, #17 tandem of Cliff Giel (Savaneta, Aruba) and Keith Kessler (Brooklyn, N.Y.) were upset by Javier Romero and Elmar Koenig 9-8 in a
tough bout for both teams.
On the women’s side, Tech won two points off of forfeit by #24 Eckerd. In the #1 doubles action, Tech’s pair Michaela Horvathova (Brataslavia, Slovakia)
and Belen Pandre (Buenos Aires, Argentina) won in a tight match 9-7 against Madora Mak and Julia Lima.
