Florida Department of Revenue Offers Free Sales Tax Workshop for New Businesses at Florida Tech on March 23

MELBOURNE, FLA. — The Florida Department of Revenue will offer a sales tax workshop for new businesses at the Women’s Business Center (WBC) at Florida
Institute of Technology on March 23. The class meets 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on campus in the Link Building, Room 323. There is no charge for the class.

The class will cover how to avoid the top 10 filing errors made by new businesses. Topics include a review of the new business start-up kit, taxable vs.
non-taxable items, record-keeping and filing requirements, responsibilities for collecting and remitting sales and use tax, and many others. The instructor
is Belinda Watson, tax education specialist with the Florida Department of Revenue.
