– On Saturday, February 19, 2005, Florida Institute of Technology will present Fusion in Fabric: A Kaleidoscope of Design at the Charles and Ruth Clemente
Center. This special evening will celebrate the best of textile art and design, bringing to Melbourne one of the world’s foremost fabric artists, Jack
Lenor Larsen of New York City. The evening will benefit new university art and design programs.
“This event will help Florida Tech to build a new tradition in art and design,” said Florida Tech President Anthony J. Catanese. “We believe that an
evening celebrating textile achievements will perfectly combine high technology and high art.”
The evening will begin with a reception at 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 7:15 p.m. Green Turtle Market will cater both the reception and dinner.
Following dinner, dancers from the Space Coast Ballet will treat guests to a fashion show of wearable art designed by Melbourne textile artist Ruth Funk.
Space Coast Ballet Co-Founder Boris Chapelev will choreograph the show. Link Johnsten of Eau Gallie Florists will provide artistic direction for the event.
The evening’s honorary chairman is Jafar Falasiri, owner of Falasiri Oriental Rugs. Tickets, $125 per person, may be purchased by contacting the Florida
Tech Office of Development at 321-674-8962. For further information, visit the Web site at www.fit.edu/fusioninfabric.
