Palm Bay Chamber Honors Florida Tech at Business Excellence Event

Florida Tech was honored with the 2023 Technology and Innovation Award at the Great Palm Bay Chamber of Commerce’s annual Excellence in Business Awards and Board Installation Luncheon.

Held Dec. 6 at Promise in Brevard, the event drew more than 230 people.

Juan C. Avendano, director of Florida Tech’s Palm Bay-based Center for Advanced Manufacturing and Innovative Design, accepted the award.  He said it is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the Florida Tech community.

“It represents the collective efforts and commitment of our faculty, staff and students who tirelessly strive to make our institution exceptional and contribute positively to the local business community,” he said.

The award included a Certificate of Special Recognition from U.S. Rep. Bill Posey.

In addition to Florida Tech’s recognition, other winners announced at the event included Serene Harbor as Non-Profit of the Year, Malabar Mayor Patrick Reilly as Community Leader of the Year and the City of Palm Bay as Trustee of the Year.
