Florida Tech Womens Basketball Releases 2007-08 Schedule

MELBOURNE, Fla. (Women’s Basketball) – In the 2007-08 season, women’s basketball head coach John Reynolds is looking forward to coaching
what could be his most talented team in quite some time. With the increased skill level, Reynolds plans to put more points on the board.   “We’re
going to be a little more up tempo,” Reynolds said. “Look for higher scores than last year.”   One player contributing to those higher scores will be
senior guard/forward combo Kristin Heminger. Reynolds says she is capable of 20 points a game, and she’ll be helped by the work she’s put
in during the offseason.   Senior leadership from forward Kassie Crimi will also aid the Panthers, as well as a strong recruiting
class Reynolds believes will make defense a strength for the team.   Florida Tech looks to be a power yet again in the Sunshine State Conference, but
has quite a schedule to go through to get there. Tampa, Rollins, Barry and even a few non-conference battles highlight the 2007-08 Florida Tech women’s
basketball schedule.   Rollins and the Panthers finished the 2006-07 season as co-champions in the Sunshine State Conference so both battles between
the teams this season make for compelling match-ups. The two teams clash in Melbourne on January 9, and in Winter Park, Fla. on February 13.  
“Florida Tech and Rollins are always going to be in the mix,” Reynolds said. “That’s always the case.”   While the Panthers and Rollins were the cream
of the crop last season in the Sunshine State Conference, Reynolds expects to be challenged by the University of Tampa this year.   “I wouldn’t be
surprised if they’re picked to finish first in the pre-season coaches poll,” Reynolds said.   Tampa has a combination of good coaching and strong
senior leadership according to Reynolds. They’ll be put to the test when they come to Melbourne on January 12, to battle the Panthers. Florida Tech plays
in Tampa on February 9.   Another game to look for will be against Barry University. Barry has put together a strong, young team to compete in the
conference. According to Reynolds, the Buccaneers added a good recruiting class with an imposing post presence to make a formidable team. It will be fun to
see the Panthers’ line up of shooters take on the Bucs in Miami Shores, Fla. on December 1, and in Melbourne on February 2.   Outside of the
conference, the Panthers won’t be playing a cupcake schedule. They travel to Albany, Ga., for the SSC/SIAC Challenge at AlbanyStateUniversity on December
28-29. The same tournament was played in Florida last season, but this season the Panthers travel to play AlbanyState and FortValleyState in what will be
more than just tune-ups for the conference schedule.   Click here
