Florida Tech Boosts Math Awareness with Algebra Bee

– The Florida Tech Department of Mathematical Sciences will host an Algebra Bee for area middle and high school students on Saturday, April 3. The bee
starts at 9:30 a.m. in the F.W. Olin Engineering Complex, Room 118, on campus. It is expected that 40 students will compete.

The bee supports April, math awareness month. “There are a lot of math competitions, but this is the first algebra bee that we know of, so we are very
excited about it,” said Dr. Semen Koksal, professor of mathematical sciences and coordinator of the bee. There is no application fee for the Algebra Bee.
Applications may be taken by E-mail to: skoksal@fit.edu.

The F.W. Olin Engineering Complex is located on University Blvd., between Babcock St. and Country Club Rd.
